Festival Partners Launch
The 20th of November, 2003, saw the Sustainable Living Festival Partners Launch. Held at the Melbourne Town hall, and kindly hosted by the City of Melbourne, the evening provided an opportunity for the Festival’s partner organisations to interact. A list of speakers, including Melbourne’s Deputy Lord Mayor, Susan Riley, spoke regarding the invaluable role the Festival plays in the process towards sustainability. The evening was a great sucess.
We were also pleased to announce that the Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) has joined the Festival as a Principal Partner.
BSL and SLF — Sustainable future is poverty free
The Brotherhood of St Laurence (BSL), an organisation with the noble aim of creating an Australia free from poverty have grasped the chance to be part of the Festival. The BSL have shown great enthusiasm and creativity with their involvement, look out for the BSL conga line come February 13.
And this year The Hunter Gatherer label will be producing the Festival’s T-shirts. Hunter Gatherer is a business initiative of the Brotherhood of St Laurence and the only retailer with ’No sweat shop’ accreditation — their employees recieve decent wages, conditions, and are usually locally employed.
